Dr. Karin Rummell

has loved providing eye care to Beachers since 1982. She grew up in the Beach and attended Balmy Beach PS, Birchcliff PS and Birchmount Park Collegiate before earning her B.Sc. and B.Ed. from the University of Toronto and her Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from the University of Waterloo. She became a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry in 1991 and was a member of its Admittance Committee for ten years. Dr. Rummell sat on the Board of Directors for the Vision Institute, a charitable organization and also served as an examiner for the National Board Exams in Optometry. She enjoyed providing eyecare at the Special Olympics.

Her clinical interests lie in providing full spectrum family vision care and she especially enjoys taking care of our smallest humans.

She is very proud of her two grown sons- one works in finance and the other is practising Optometry with her!! In her spare time, Dr. Rummell likes to cook and travel and is trying to become fluent in French.

Dr. Timothy Jerome

grew up in the Beach and attended Kew Beach and then Williamson Road Public Schools. He studied Engineering at the University of British Columbia before obtaining his Optometry training at Cardiff University in Wales. He continued his Ocular Therapeutics training at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. Dr. Jerome worked in a family oriented general Optometry practice in Wales for 5 years before returning home to Toronto to practise in the Beach. He is a member of the College of Optometrists of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the College of Optometrists in the United Kingdom.

Dr. Jerome enjoys road cycling and weight training. He loves to travel and cook (his bread rivals that of Dr.Chow!) and has recently begun designing and making chef’s knives. In response to the needs created by the Covid-19 pandemic, he has put his engineering training to good use and has designed 3D printed shields for our instruments. His 3 3D printers are going non-stop to make your eye exam experience as safe as it can be.

He is looking forward to practising alongside his mother and continuing to take care of the eyecare needs of the community where he grew up and which he loves.

Dr. Donna Chow

completed an Industrial Internship in Honors Chemistry at the University of Alberta before receiving her Doctor of Optometry at the University of Waterloo. She has trained with ophthalmologists at Vision America – a specialty clinic in Birmingham, Alabama to gain further experience in vitreoretinal diseases, cataract and LASIK perioperative care.

Dr. Chow felt privileged to participate in an eyecare mission to Huatulco, Mexico with the non-profit organization Eyecare International. There, she provided free ocular health assessments, dispensed donated spectacles and medications and arranged surgery for those in need of secondary care.

Since 2002, Dr. Chow has been practising in the Beach and enjoys combining her passions for food and travel in her spare time. For years, she has lovingly nurtured along a sourdough starter and bakes a mean loaf of bread!

Dr. Ibrahim Labib

Dr. Labib joined our clinic in 2024 as an esteemed member of our optometry team, known for his warm and patient-focused approach to eye care. His journey in the medical field began with a solid foundation in ophthalmology at the Alexandria School of Medicine in 1985. Dr. Labib started giving eye care services  as an Optometrist in 2003 in different cities in Ontario.

His clinical interest in ocular disease  specifically those related to medical problems is informed by his extensive medical background, allowing him to provide comprehensive and thoughtful care to his patients.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Labib is a dedicated father, taking great joy in the academic pursuits of his children in the medical and optometry fields. His personal interests include spending time with his beloved dog, Prince, and he also cherishes the memories of his days as a competitive swimmer.
